Oxidation Removal

Gutter Brightening and Vinyl Restoration Services

Are you looking for Oxidation Removal services?

Once you have spotted oxidation, it must be removed!

Are there black stripes on your gutters? Does it drive you crazy every time you look at it?

Homes are prone to oxidation and fading. It happens to all surfaces, just some quicker and more degrading than others.

Given some time, the paint and plastic surfaces of your home will get old, fade, and become less shiny, because of oxidation. It is often seen on vinyl sidings and painted metal surfaces such as gutters, soffits, and aluminum sidings, on homes with less maintenance.

Damage from UV radiation is one of the most common problems faced by property owners. The sun’s rays can cause fading and discoloration of paint, fabric, and wood. They can also cause degradation of plastics, rubber, and other materials. UV radiation can also cause problems with metal surfaces, causing them to corrode or discolor.
Dirt and organic buildups that have been sitting on a painted surface for too long can slowly eat the paint and speed up oxidation. Vinyl sidings can also fade slowly when exposed to sunlight.

The good news is, there’s a solution!

If you want to keep your property in good condition, it’s important to remove oxidation from all exterior surfaces.

How do I know it’s oxidized?

Do you have a chalky white substance on your siding?

Luckily there are a few ways you can tell whether your home’s surface is suffering from oxidation and fading. One way to spot this type of damage is visual inspection; surfaces will look dull and have an uneven or chalky appearance.

Another way to find out whether your house needs help with oxidation is through tactile inspection; gently rub a damp rag or your dry hand over the area in question. It will be easy to spot the white, chalky substance on darker-colored vinyl siding. If you have pastel or lighter-colored vinyl siding, you can check for oxidation by running a finger across the vinyl siding surface.

You can also rinse the surface well with a garden hose, wear a pair of dark-colored rubber gloves and lightly wipe the surface. If you see some chalky residue coming off, it is oxidized. Black or gray streaks on metal gutters are often a sign of gutter oxidation too.

Make sure to do this in an inconspicuous area, if you do not plan on cleaning immediately, as you will see the clean area left behind.

Regularly inspect your vinyl siding for signs of oxidation. Large-scale oxidation will be harder to clean and may require more maintenance or repair.

Can oxidation be cleaned?

Technically speaking, no! You wouldn’t expect a car wash to bring the dull paint (oxidized) to shiny. Same thing on house washing. Oxidation cannot be “cleaned” but SOMETIMES can be “removed” or “waxed”. Our regular house washing is meant to clean all the dirt and organic buildups on your home, but not oxidized paint or plastic.

Oxidation Removal Service

We offer oxidation removal services, similar to a car paint restoration. We remove oxidation on gutters and vinyl sidings, also called Gutter Brightening and Vinyl Restoration, respectively. Oxidation removal will be a little more expensive than cleaning, but a lot cheaper than replacing.

Vinyl siding is the most popular exterior siding in the United States. Homeowners love it because it’s a durable, versatile, and affordable material that is easy to install and maintain. Over time, though, you may notice a white chalky substance on the surface of your vinyl siding and trim.

What you’re seeing is fading or oxidation. It’s a natural process that happens when the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) material is exposed to oxygen and other natural elements as well as dirt and grime build-up.

It’s important to remove oxidation on vinyl siding. Apart from fading and other aesthetic concerns, oxidation can lead to the degradation or deterioration of your exterior cladding. Regular maintenance ensures that your vinyl siding not only looks good, but it will also last for many years to come.

Oxidation Removal Services by Blue Flamingo SoftWash

If you're looking to restore the shine and color to your sun-faded or oxidized siding, hardy board, garage doors, or any other outdoor surfaces, we have you covered.

Our Process

We use chemicals specially designed for oxidation removal to further loose the oxidized paint or plastic and then lightly rinse or brush it off. Under no circumstance should you use high pressure on oxidized surfaces. IRRETRIEVABLE DAMAGES could happen! In case it does happen, please contact us. We might have a solution.

Our process for removing oxidation from surfaces is similar to soft washing. Soft washing uses a low-pressure stream of water to gently remove years of built-up grime, without damaging the underlying surface. We use the same equipment we use for soft wash, with a specialized cleaning solution for removing oxidation.

Our process for removing oxidation is as follows:

1. Inspect

When you call us to remove oxidation around your property, the first thing that we will do is assess the current situation. We will confirm that there is oxidation occurring and determine whether any damage from it has happened yet.

2. Prepare

We use the latest technology equipment and a unique blend of chemicals to remove oxidation from your home or business.

3. Rinse

Rinsing the oxidized surface allows the debris to soften, making it easier to remove with the cleaning solution.

4. Clean

We will apply the cleaning solution we prepared in step two, spraying it wherever there is oxidation. We use a specific solution that is agitated into the gutter using brushes in order to deep clean the surface while maintaining the integrity of the paint.

5. Rinse

Finally, we will rinse away the cleaning solution and the oxidation, leaving your property looking perfectly clean.

The Cleaning Solution Does It All

One general misconception we experience is that our customers assume that the surface is cleaned with high pressure. That is not true! Soft wash (as implied in the name) is a soft, gentle, low pressure way of cleaning surfaces. It doesn’t damage the surface, only cleans them.

Even though we provide pressure washing services, we don’t recommend pressure washing UV damaged surfaces. Pressure washing only cleans surface dirt but not mold. So when you have a surface pressure washed, it’s just a matter of time for mold to make a comeback. We love answering questions about this subject. Give us a call if you have any questions.

Before After

Let’s discuss options to get rid of the stains around your property!

In most cases, you can expect 100% stain removal with pressure washing. Yet, sometimes, the technicians might have to see the stain before they can assure you about your concerns of rust stain removal. We offer free consultation and quotes, so you understand what to expect ahead of the task.
